In
the late 1970’s Rinné A. Mervel graduated from
the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He found his way to Portugal in
1980 where he spent a half-year of study and travel. The influences of
this trip still reverberate in his work. Early in 1981 he left his small
workspace behind for a large studio in the heart of the old city center
of Delft. His studio is his laboratory, a source of inspiration and problem
solving.
Regarding 25 years as a professional artist Mervel says: “I’ve always done management and public relations myself and learned how along the way. Alongside paintings I also make three-dimensional constructions. In my graphic work; etchings and high relief prints I make one unique print. The results serve as a starting point for experimentation. Series in edition are made only on commission. Two such series of coloured etchings can now be found in collections spread out across 24 countries. For the past ten years I have given workshops in painting and graphic arts.” Exhibitions: |
